NARA Releases Strategic Framework

From the External Affairs team at the National Archives:

“Today, Archivist of the United States Dr. Colleen Shogan shared with our staff the  framework for a new Strategic Plan for the National Archives and Records Administration.

The framework outlines a refreshed articulation of the agency’s mission, vision, and values, and sets four high level strategic goals to drive the National Archives forward for the next generation. The creation of the framework was informed by input from across the National Archives, as well as conversations and engagement over the last eighteen months with a wide range of external stakeholders like you.

With the strategic framework now in place, Dr. Shogan is launching the next phase of the conversation by inviting staff and stakeholders to help inform the development of NARA’s new Strategic Plan. The Strategic Framework will guide the agency’s decision-making until the Strategic Plan is formally published.

As the National Archives continues work on this next Strategic Plan, we will be seeking input from you. As a first step in this conversation, we wanted to share this framework with you as soon as it was released. This shows you the direction we plan to go.”

As the Strategic Plan development progresses, they will share more formal opportunities to provide feedback on the draft plan.
